2022 in Numbers

The past twelve months have been full of amazing successes for our members, and we want to share just a few of our stats with you as we round out another year of touch footy.

From January to December, our members have officiated over 2100 matches just within Townsville Touch Football's senior and junior competitions. That stat doesn't include the countless more matches officiated across the nine representative events in which our members participated this year!

Amongst those 2100 matches, five of our referees made their A-grade debuts in 2022, as they stepped out onto their first Women's 1 or Men's 1 match in the Colliers Shield.

This year, 272 referees picked up the whistle, 27 of them for the first time! 68 of our lucky referees were recognised for their performances during the year and were rewarded with an appointment to a grand final.

Across five accreditation courses we introduced 27 new referees to the sport, and upskilled 13 of our current members to prepare them for upgrade to Level 2 and Level 3. One referee was upgraded to Level 3 at April's Junior State Cup North (JSCN) and another was upgraded to Level 5 at May's National Touch League (NTL).

Over 50 of our members officiated at a representative level in 2022. We were represented at every level of the sport, from junior regional through to State of Origin, and even had two of our members make the national debuts.

Once again, one of our youngest members has topped the list for the most matches refereed in a year. Closely followed by severeal of our experienced and long-term referees as well as some of our up-and-coming stars.

On behalf of the TTRA's Management Committee, thank-you for your outstanding efforts and positive attitudes in 2022. We're looking forward to seeing you all back behind the whistle in 2023!
