The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the President's Award to Jason Hrycyk, acknowledging his exemplary commitment to the TTRA and its members.
This esteemed award, which was revived in 2022, is given to individuals who have shown extraordinary dedication to the association.
Hrycyk's involvement in the Monday Night Mixed competition and his readiness to support and organise refereeing duties were pivotal to his recognition this year.
"Jason's unwavering support and leadership have been invaluable to the success of our Monday night competitions," expressed TTRA President, Kerrod Hall.
"We are tremendously grateful for his dedication and the positive impact he has on our community."
Denise Weier, the Monday Night Mixed Coordinator, also praised Hrycyk, stating, "Having Jason with us on Monday nights is a boon for us all; his assistance each week has been nothing short of extraordinary. He's always there, ensuring everything runs smoothly."
Dylan Carey received the Glen Wilson Award for Most Improved Referee after an impressive comeback in the 2024 Colliers Shield.
His remarkable journey from taking a break last season to dominating in Men's 1st grade, and officiating major finals, highlights his resilience and skill as a referee.
Other members lauded at the event include Max Hoover and Daniel Spargo, who were acknowledged as Most Valued Referees in the Monday Mixed and Tuesday Veterans competitions, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Most Promising Referee awards were given to Ned Lyons and Ruby Fox for their potential shown during the Colliers Shield season.
The ceremony also gave a special mention to Marcus Muller, one of the association's most dedicated Referee Coaches, whose commitment to nurturing the skills of young referees has played a crucial role in elevating the standard of refereeing within the TTRA.
Also recognised on the night were six long-serving members of the association, who reached milestone membership years.
The long service award recipients were: Caitlin Murrell and David McManus (10 years), Kel James Jnr. (fiften years), Kerrod Hall (twenty years), Matthew Salmon (twenty-five years), and Timothy Villalba (thirty years).
With such an inspired group of individuals, the future of touch football refereeing in Townsville looks very promising, and the TTRA continues to uphold its commitment to excellence and development, setting the bar high for the seasons to come.
The night was capped off with the announcement of the referees for Saturday's Colliers Shield Grand Finals.
